Lone Star Quilt Block (Or Baby Quilt)
Aug

to Aug 21

Lone Star Quilt Block (Or Baby Quilt)

In this three-part class, we will make a Lone Star quilt block, one of the most admired traditional designs in quilting! This block features many advanced patchwork techniques, including strip piecing, angled cutting and piecing, and sewing y-seams. It is also a wonderful exercise for playing with fabric and color palettes and experimenting with color layout.

Our block will finish at 30”, which you can repeat on your own to make a larger quilt, or you can add an optional border to a single block to create a 40” baby or wall hanging quilt. These options are noted in the fabric requirements.  This is an advanced technique NOT suitable for beginners.

Visit Cut & Sew Studio for booking and info!

Quilt Basting Day (Fundraising Event!)

Quilt Basting Day (Fundraising Event!)

Who even has space in their house to baste a whole quilt?! And isn’t it just the worst task? Come bring your quilts to baste on the big tables at the studio, save your back and knees, and have company while you get it done! Let’s baste together!

If you would like to bring a quilt to work on, the group will help get it done! BUT! The deal is that you must also commit to helping the others as well. Everyone will lend a hand and get those pins in place, and we’ll get all the quilts done in one day – together!

This is a trial run to see how this idea works, so the goal will be to baste 8 quilts. Closer to the date, Julie will get in touch to check the size of the quilts you want to work on and will make a plan to make best use of table space.

Please make sure that your quilt top is fully complete, your back is assembled, your batting is prepped, and that you have enough pins to complete your project!

*This event is free but has a suggested donation of $20 which will be donated to the Women’s Shelter of Pittsburgh.  Any donation is accepted, and all money will go to the shelter :)  Please bring cash the day of the event.

Register a quilt to baste here!
